Tax Shelters

r/sers should churches in America be tax exempt?

should they be? should the ones the size of a small fortress be exempt? where do they get all this money for huge TV’s(so people in the back can see) and youth groups going on field trips…now i’ve been to some good honest small churches too… but i think since they are a part of society they should all have to support the society that shelters their right to practice how they want…

why is it churches?????

are always asking for money but yet the pasture \ preacher what ever he is, is driving around in a benz or bmw. the amount of money all churches bring in tax free every yr if they payed taxes on it they could really do some good instead of being tax shelters. anyone agree?

Tax Cuts and Charity?

I plan to be making plenty of money once I finish college.. and I was hoping to buy lots of land and grow my own trees, so that eventually, I could donate them to build shelters on the land that I own. Shelters for both human and other animals alike. I was thinking.. could I take a shit on the governments’ chest this way? Would they be able to tax that land? And is it really ‘every piece of wood donated is a dollars worth in tax cuts’? I heard that the other day.
It is a bit much, but what can I say.. I like a challenge that will get things done.
I know that there has to be some tax deductions.. but I think that all my money should go towards something good. If I am going to be taxed, they aren’t going to use that money for things that aren’t necessary. The less I give them, the better. It would be great to do it legally.

Can I claim my neice under my taxes as a dependent although her mother and father live with her under my house?

I provide shelter, utilities and food and paid a quarter of her school fees last year. They have only lived with me for 3 months. I do not have legal guardianship and have not adopted her either.

Can My aunt and uncle claim me as a dependant?

I have been living with my aunt for nine months. I am not in school right now, and I’ll be 22 in march. I am trying to go to school. I am fighting for independancy status. My uncle wants to claim me on his taxes, but isn’t paying for my schooling. This makes it almost impossible for financial aid, considering he makes over $200,000 a year. I came here because I was homeless, and I want to go to school, and besides the shelter I was at, had nowhere else to turn. Please! I need to make sure it’s not legal. I live in SC.
I have two jobs, I’m not a bum

Was Robin Hood the first Liberal to steal from the rich, and give to the poor?

Didn’t he keep much of that money for himself and his “merry men”?
Could the people, who gave him shelter, be considered accomplices?
Did other people end up paying more taxes because of his stealing from public officials?—Did they pay higher prices to the merchants who were robbed?
Would his “merry men” be Democratic politicians if they were alive today?
SHORTBUS—Moses was a rebel, not a Liberal.
Liberals and conservatives only exist in a society that gives it’s members some input about how things are managed.
MITCHELL–That would justify Robin leading them in a rebellion, not getting their help to steal.
IITRIX—Did I miss it, or did you just make a very big jump from asking from the rich to stealing from them?
CORAGRYPH—You really must explain that little difference to Ted Kennedy, so he will stop playing Robin Hood.
Why don’t the Democrats chase them out of their party?
IITRIX— I didn’t even know that Jesus was such a lousy fisherman, baker, and wine maker.
Perhaps, when he coms back he will practice these skills so that he can live up to that “all powerful, and “all knowing”
reputation of his.
Wolf—So it’s O.K. to steal from some one who Liberals don’t like.
Were there no nice rich liberals?
Are all Liberals failures?, or are all failures Liberal?

Can I claim my 18 year old nephew as a dependant under my taxes?

He’s a full time student and lives with both his parents under my house. I provide the shelter and pay for all utilities and food which is what my family uses too. I paid for a quarter of his tuition last year. I don’t have legal guardianship and haven’t adopted him. Both parents are non taxpayers. Can I still claim him or no? He’s lived with me for 3 months now and goes to college.
